Shellie Brown places First at MSO Young Artist Competition

Shellie Brown, a sophomore Violin Performance major, won First Place in the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Concerto Competition

Shellie Brown, a sophomore Violin Performance major, won First Place in the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Concerto Competition, Collegiate Division.  She played the “Poeme” Op.25 by Ernest Chausson at the February competition, and was awarded a $600 cash prize along with the honor of first place among all competing collegiate violinists.

Even in her freshman year, Brown showed leadership in her role as Concert Mistress for the Belhaven College and Jackson Community Symphony Orchestra, member of the Belhaven College Chamber Orchestra, and member of the Belhaven Quartet.
