Belhaven University Communication department sponsored a conference exploring media management and news on April 21 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Student Center Theater.
Dan Modisett–WLBT TV3, Stuart Kellogg–WAPT TV 16, Bob Romine–WJTV TV 12, Marc Jaromin–FOX 40 WDBD, Kenneth Windham–Clear Channel Radio, Danny Mitchell–The Godwin Group, and Earnest Hart–AME Multi Media attended the conference.
“The Ethics in Communication conference is designed to give our students an opportunity to meet and spend time with the decision makers of the local media,” remarks Dr. Elayne Hayes-Anthony, Professor & Chair of the Department of Communication. “Our students were able to listen to history in the making regarding changes in the industry. They were candid, and students felt they could ask the hard questions.”
The students in the Ethics in Mass Communication class studied ethics in the media and its impact on the electorate (voters). The conference reached a broad perspective on ethics and helped students to utilize their skills in an ethical manner to enrich their careers and enhance the integrity of the media as a whole.
