Belhaven Hosts Out of Darkness Ministry

Belhaven University regularly invites outside ministries to speak during its weekly Chapel service. This past spring, Jeff Shaw, director of Out of Darkness, an organization that fights human trafficking, shared the mission of reaching, rescuing and restoring those affected by human trafficking so that the glory of God may be known.

Human trafficking is the second largest criminal enterprise in the world (second only to the drug trade), but it is the fastest growing. Out of Darkness hosts events targeted at those affected by human trafficking, such as Princess Night, Adopt-a-Block and Be the Light. The ministry also supports medical training, and outreach programs at prisons.

Solomon House is the residential component of Out of Darkness. The ministry provides a safe refuge where victims can receive new clothes, medical treatment, representation for any immediate legal needs and most importantly, the love and support of a new family.

Out of Darkness is the anti-trafficking ministry of Atlanta Dream Center, Inc., a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. For more information, visit their website at outofdarkness, org
