Family Weekend Set for September 25-26

We look forward to seeing Belhaven parents and siblings for Family Weekend on Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26! Family Weekend is a great time to return to Belhaven to see your student. The weekend is full of activities OR you can just hang out and cheer for the Belhaven Blazers football team. Register today to let us know which events you plan to attend.

The Belhaven Family Weekend 2015 will be here soon and current students, parents and siblings are invited to enjoy a weekend full of exciting activities on September 25-26, 2015.

The weekend will begin with the Belhaven Discover Day for siblings who are interested in enrolling. Then, the Wynn Kenyon Think Center will have an open house for parents to experience all that the Think Center has to offer their students. A faculty panel will follow the open house, where Belhaven professors will give advice and answer questions.

After a family catfish dinner in the Dining Commons, join us for Rec the Night. Play or watch as participants try their skills at laser tag (Auxiliary Gym), capture the flag (practice football field next to Bitsy Irby), board games (Student Center Dining Commons) and more. The Belhaven Bookstore will be open with Family Weekend specials so you can get a good deal on Belhaven gear.

Saturday morning will begin with a brunch and a time of Q-and-A with Belhaven University President, Dr. Roger Parrott. Get ready to cheer on our Blazers football as they face-off against Huntingdon College. Join us before the game for an exciting tailgate party at Newell Field. There will be delicious food, games, face-painting, cheer practice and drawings for free gifts. The Belhaven Football Tailgate is only $5 per person or $25 per family and you can pay at the tent. While you are there, enter the Coin Toss Drawing. If you win, you and your family will serve as “honorary captains” and toss the coin at the beginning of the game and receive a Blazers “game day” package of merchandise.

Belhaven Launches New Smartphone App

Belhaven University has released an app for smartphones that makes getting information about campus, events, athletics and more even more convenient for those using Apple or Android devices.

The app, which is available for free download on both the Apple iTunes and Google Play stores, features up to date information in a familiar format to smartphone users. Users can receive up to date news from campus or updates on Blazer athletics from the app’s front page. A campus directory allows users to contact campus offices conveniently.

Another benefit of the app will welcome new students to campus next week. The complete Welcome Week guide – with information about peer leaders, RAs and student organizations, as well as the complete Welcome Week schedule – is being presented for the first time digitally.

Users can also follow official Belhaven social media accounts and even upload pictures to the app. Users who submit photos through the “Share Photos” option may see their picture on Belhaven social media channels.

The launch of the Belhaven app comes on the heels of a complete redesign of the Belhaven website,  which features connectivity between information that is orderly, extensive, and presented for ease of use and clarity.
