For the past half century there has been a divide in the Church between those who are committed to sharing the Gospel in order to bring people to Christ, and living out the Gospel by showing the love of Christ to those in need.
In many ways, this is a good tension because we are responsible for both. But unfortunately this tension has caused many to “pick” one side over the other rather than do both.
During the Lausanne Congress, John Piper perfectly articulated our call as followers of Christ:
Because of Christ we Christians care about all suffering, and especially eternal suffering. We don’t have to choose. Christ is calling us to bring these together.
